In a two volume set, poetry of Ibn al-Mu'tazz (861-908 CE), the Arab poet of the Abbasid period. Ibn al-Mu'tazz was from a political family with a tragic background, but stayed out of politics and lived a privileged life during which time he wrote poetry. In 908 he was convinced to become caliph, but after a single day and night was forced into hiding and then assassinated (as was his father and grandfather).
