*The Discomfort Store*—a novel by the Korean author Kim Ho-yeon—tells the story of a small grocery shop situated in a neighborhood in Seoul, owned by Mrs. "Bom." She is a kind-hearted elderly woman who one day encounters a homeless man when he returns a wallet she had lost at a train station. Impressed by his honesty, she offers him a job working the night shift at her store. As time passes, this homeless man—who had lost his memory due to alcohol addiction—transforms into a source of inspiration and assistance for others. Through his positive energy and charming spontaneity, he helps resolve the customers' problems and offers them counsel... until he eventually regains his memory and decides to leave the store to rectify the mistakes he had made earlier in his life.
